American and Abolition Era Florence
On the second Saturday of every month this summer, Steve Strimer will be giving guided walking tours, on the Northampton Association of Education and Industry, and on David Ruggles & The Northampton Watercure. See the schedule below.

We'll concentrate on telling the story of the founding and four-and-a-half year existence of the NAEI by visiting sites in its 400 acre property. Donations accepted to benefit the David Ruggles Center for Early Florence History.
David Ruggles & The Northampton Watercure

Guided Tour: David Ruggles' Florence. Third tour in the Second Saturday Summer Series to benefit the new David Ruggles Center for Early Florence History. Join guides Steve Strimer and Linda Ziegenbein to visit sites relating to the Florence years of David Ruggles, hydropathic doctor, bookseller, journalist and assistant to over 600 fugitive slaves. We will explore the former site and practices of the Northampton Watercure, the first watercure hospital in the United States. Tours are approximately 1.5 miles in length and take about an hour-and-a-half and are moderately hilly. Donations of any size to help the David Ruggles Center for Early Florence History or to support the Sojourner Truth Memorial Scholarships will be appreciated.
