High School Scholarship

Each year the Sojourner Truth Committee awards up to two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from local high schools. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate in an essay their experience and commitment to social justice and equality.  The committee has awarded scholarships since 2006; they are awarded during our yearly Commemoration event on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

How to Apply: Application forms are sent to area high school guidance offices in February of each year.  A copy of the application may be downloaded below.

Application Deadline: April 20, 2012

Finalists will be asked to meet briefly with some members of our committee in April. Scholarship awards are announced at the annual celebration on the Sunday before Memorial Day  at the Sojourner Truth Memorial Statue Park in Florence.
